Abstract

This study analyzed psychosocial risk and professional burnout among 458 university employees using structural equation modeling and scenario simulation. Workload showed the strongest total effect on burnout, whereas perceived stress acted as a relevant mediating mechanism. Resilience reduced stress and buffered its relationship with burnout without replacing the influence of organizational conditions. Simulations showed that reducing stress and reducing burnout do not necessarily produce equivalent responses. Broad organizational scenarios generated larger expected decreases in burnout, whereas combined strategies mainly optimized stress reduction. These findings support differentiated interventions targeting organizational exposures while strengthening personal resources within university work environments more effectively.
