The target audience of the Journal

Athenea Revista en Ciencias de la Ingenieria is aimed at students, teachers, researchers, professionals, and the general public who are passionate about research and scientific dissemination.

Author Guidelines 

Note: Athenea only accepts original papers to be considered for publication.

Before submitting the manuscript, it is recommended to review the submission checklist: Please:

• Read the Aims and Scope to get an overview and evaluate if the manuscript suits this Journal.
• Use the Microsoft Word template to prepare the manuscript.
• Ensure that issues related to publication ethics, copyright, authorship, figure formats, data, and reference standards have been reviewed.
• Ensure that all authors agree with the content of the submitted manuscript.
• Encourage authors to include a brief biography (optional) at the end of the document, with a maximum of 4 lines of description and a passport-type photo. It will help readers better understand the authors' background and qualifications.

Authors who wish to publish in the Athenea Journal of Engineering Sciences must take into account the following items:

The journal's submission process requires manuscripts to be submitted online through the website or via email if internet failures are an issue.

 A corresponding author must be designated to oversee the editorial process and ensure the accuracy of information. Manuscripts must be in Microsoft Word format and follow the submission website's template. Figures and tables should be original and inserted within the document after the paragraph of their first mention. A letter of originality and assignment of rights must be provided for open-access publication. Authors are encouraged to include a brief biography and a passport photo. The title should be concise and relevant, with the type of study specified. Author details, funding sources, acknowledgments, and conflicts of interest should also be included. Authors agree to become members of the International Board of Scientific Reviewers and recommend peer reviewers upon request. An author may publish one article per year.

Process for the publication of articles

The editorial process times are as follows:

       - 3 days for first section editor response or pass to peer review.

       - 10 to 20 days for the editor's response to the peer reviewers' observations.

       - 1 to 3 months after approval, publication of the article on the Journal's website.

Authors should submit their products through the OJS platform and will be informed on time of the dates for their submission.

In principle, the area of study, subject matter, format, and relevance of the article will be taken into account, notifying the authors of the following:

1.- The article has passed to the peer review stage, which will academics considered experts in the area of study of the article. This process will last ten calendar days in open mode regarding the evaluation form in the OJS platform. This evaluation will also use the double-blind method for author(s) and evaluators. The evaluators will be sent the article without the author's identity and any other data referring to them, and the authors will be given the observations without the evaluators' data. If there is no coherence between the evaluations, a third evaluation will be considered, complying with the double-blind standard. The evaluators will perform their work under the criteria of confidentiality and impartiality.

2.- The article is rejected for not being of interest to the Journal or for presenting a format not established by the Journal.

Once the article has been evaluated and submitted to the editorial committee, the authors will be notified:

In cases where the editorial committee already accepts the article, the authors must sign a declaration of originality and authorization of the rights of publication and reproduction of the same and the inclusion in databases, web pages, or electronic pages, national or international (Review: Declaration of Originality and Declaration of Conflict of Interest forms). All the content of the articles, including texts, tables, figures, and information in general, is included in the material to be published under the exclusive responsibility of the authors. Likewise, the article is the responsibility of its authors and does not necessarily reflect the thinking of the editorial committee.

3.- The article cannot be published because the modifications are too extensive or inadequate for the Journal.

4.- The article presents minor revisions that can be improved for later publication. Likewise, the author/s will have 15 calendar days to return the article with the suggested corrections, accompanied by a letter stating the modifications made.

The editorial committee will evaluate whether the observations made have been complied with and, if it considers it pertinent, will send it again to the peer reviewer. The publication decision will be subject to the agreement of the peer reviewer and the editorial committee, considering the observations previously made. In the case of disagreement with the peer reviewers' evaluations, the authors should send a letter of explanation justifying their position on the comments. The Journal reserves the right to edit texts without changing the meaning of the article.

AUTHOR'S RIGHTS 

The author or authors retain the rights to their research. Therefore, any public or private entity that uses graphs, statistics, or any other original material from the authors' publication will be appropriately referred to and cited as the authors of the research from which such elements are extracted. The authors retain ownership of their works and will be referenced whenever they are consulted in whole or part.

COSTS
Athenea Revista en Ciencias de la Ingeniería does not charge for the publication of articles. Being a self-financed journal, Athenea charges for the editorial processing of the articles and the maintenance of the platform (storage costs, doi allocation, and technical staff), the general costs of USD 100 for those who collaborate with the editorial function. For the general public, the charge is USD 200.
