Athenea is a Scientific Journal oriented to Engineering Sciences. It is published by AutanaBooks, with the institutional support of the Universidad Experimental "Antonio José de Sucre" (UNEXPO), vice-rectorate Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela. Its main administrative office is located in Ecuador and its editor is PhD Franyelit Suárez.

The journal Athenea focuses on Engineering Sciences and aims to publish academic and scientific material of high research level and quality, produced by scientists and researchers in Latin America and the world to disseminate the work of teaching and research.

The Athenea Journal focuses on publishing high-quality academic and scientific material produced by scientists and researchers from Latin America and the world to disseminate teaching and research work.

Athenea offers immediate and free access to the work published in the Journal, permitting reading, copying, downloading, printing, distribution, and searching or linking to other platforms. These may hyperlink or search for articles and materials published in the Journal to index them, redirect them to data software, or use them for other lawful purposes.

In consideration of the above and taking as a reference the mission and vision of the career programs offered by the Universities, the following Mission and Vision are proposed to support the strategic plan of the Athenea Scientific Journal:

MISSION

Disseminate innovative engineering knowledge, permanently preserving a high level of technical and scientific quality and a high level of research on various engineering and applied sciences resulting from creation, research, criticism, and intellectual confrontation.
To make visible the knowledge to which undergraduate and graduate professional education is committed in our Latin American and Caribbean Universities.
To allow self-evaluation and continuous improvement of the communicative competencies of Latin American engineering and scientific academic work.
To welcome reflections on industrial problems, developments, patents, and prototypes that comply with scientific and technical rigor as a fundamental contribution to our social, industrial, and academic projection and commitment.
To impact the sociocultural and scientific environment by encouraging the participation of teachers and researchers of the local, regional, national, and international academic community through the publication of scientific articles in engineering areas.

VISION

By 2023, the Athenea Scientific Journal will be recognized internationally as a journal with the highest standards of scientific publications and as a high-level and impact medium for disseminating and disseminating knowledge due to its scientific basis, flexibility, and academic richness. In addition, for the diversity and flexibility of its publications, relevance, and timeliness, its support to educational and research work for disseminating the latest developments and advances in different areas of engineering.

AIMS AND SCOPE

The Athenea Journal has national and international coverage and publishes articles on Science, Technology, and Innovation. It is dedicated explicitly to disseminating works in Engineering Sciences, with results related to research, new developments, prototypes, and new technologies, all publications complying with the peer review process and compliance with ethical and quality criteria.

This Journal aims to disseminate research results in engineering sciences in Ecuador and abroad. We also seek to contribute to the confrontation and dissemination of knowledge, promoting the exchange between colleagues from different universities and research institutes. In addition, we intend to collaborate in constructing scientific and technical knowledge and stimulate critical reflection on theories, perspectives, and situations related to engineering, technology, and innovation.

It is a specific publication in engineering sciences, edited by AutanaBooks, and is oriented to academics, researchers, scientists, professionals, students, business people, and entrepreneurs interested in disseminating their scientific productions. It has an open-access electronic version in the Athenea Engineering sciences journal (autanabooks.com). All the contents published in the Journal are open-access and do not require any payment for consultation. More information is available at www.autanabooks.com.

In Athenea Journal, you can find articles in Spanish and English, articles on technology, scientific research, technical notes, case reports, letters to the editor, articles of reflection derived from analysis, essays, and scientific papers, among others. The administration of articles is done in the Open Journal System publication management platform.

DISCIPLINES

The Athenea Journal focuses on the disciplines of Engineering Sciences, which include technological developments, technological innovation, and prototyping.

TYPE OF CONTRIBUTIONS

Technological, scientific research articles: they are products of Degree Works (Specialization, Master's, and Doctorate) or research in the university and industrial field, whether experimental or non-experimental, and must mean a technological contribution to the resolution of specific problems in the industrial sector.

Technical Notes are those contributions to inform news and advance the Journal's specialties.

Scientific articles must result from either bibliographic or experimental research in which results have been obtained and discussed. Conclusions reached with a significant contribution in some areas of scientific interest.

Essays: they must be the result of a personal analysis made by the author on a specific topic (historical, scientific, artistic, technical, among others), where the subjective predominates and where a personal criterion is exposed but with foundation and argumentation.

Reflection articles derived from the research: these are contributions that present the research results but in which the author's subjective criteria, analysis, and reflection on the results predominate.

Case reports: it is a medical contribution that shows the clinical experience of a particular topic, where descriptive, detailed information that serves as a teaching tool for the medical and scientific community is presented.

Book chapters: the publication of book chapters with a maximum length of 35 pages will be considered, and no more than one chapter per author may be published. Furthermore, the book chapter must be within the interests of the Athenea Journal and go through the peer-review process.

PERIODICITY OR FREQUENCY OF THE JOURNAL

The Athenea Journal in Engineering Sciences will be published continuously in 2024. Articles will be received throughout the year, and special calls for papers will be published on the journal's website.

Years before 2024, the Athenea journal was published every quarterly.

ETHICAL NORMS FOR PUBLICATION

The  Athenea Journal takes as its Code of Ethics and Good Practices for editors of scientific journals, which is established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) on its page http://publicationethics.org/. Considering what the COPE sets, the Journal commits itself to attending to the publications' scientific quality and appropriately treating the demands of its readers, authors, and evaluators.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST

Authors must include, in addition to the article submitted to the Journal, a Declaration of Originality and Declaration of Conflict of Interest Form (See Annex 2). In addition, at the end of the article, after the conclusions, a paragraph specifying this declaration and the source of funding of the research that gave rise to the paper should be included on the first page.

DOI SYSTEM

The journal articles adhere to the DOI system, which establishes the technical and social infrastructure for registering and using identifiers in digital networks.

ADVERTISING

To maintain a straightforward interface without annoying distractions, Athenea Revista en Ciencias de la Ingeniería does not host advertisements on its website.
